Treatment of Spinal Muscular Atrophy after the onset may still be beneficial

SMA is at the moment treated as a progressive disease, characterized by degeneration of motor neurons. This might change in the future though.

Research done by a group of scientists shows that increasing SMN protein may be helpful even after the onset of the disease.
